Third Annual Sponsored Bike Ride to raise money for third world charity
Over 50 cyclists are expected to join the third annual Sponsored Bike Ride on August 6th, with the aim of raising more than € 3000 for Médecins sans Frontières to aid their work in the third world.
The start will be from Le Secret Knight pub in Champsecret (61) to Le Famous Knight in Couptrain (53), a distance of 35 kilometres. There will be regular rest stops at bars and facilities along the way where participants will have their entry forms stamped. A fully stamped card will entitle the participant to a meal provided by Le Brewery, artisinal brewers at Joué les Bois, and owner of the two pubs.
Last year 35 cyclists, aged between nine and 80 years, joined the ride. The route wil be
the same as in the previous two years going through the Andaine forest to Bagnoles de l’Orne, where the cyclists will for lunch. The riders will then take a route through Couterne, Madré,
Neuilly le Vendin for the finish at Le Famous Knight pub in Couptrain. The event is organised by the “Friends of the Famous Knight” and last year over 2,500 euros was sent to
Médecins sans Frontières (MSF).
There will also be a charity auction for items and also services from local businesses
to raise more money for MSF.
