CYCLISTS RAISE  OVER 2 000 EUROS FOR MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES IN THIRD ANNUAL SPONSORED BIKE RIDE

Despite the rain last Saturday, 40 cyclists in north Mayenne and southern Orne raised over 2,000 euros for the medical charity Médecins sans Frontières in a sponsored bike ride.

The start was from Le Secret Knight pub in Champsecret for the 35 km ride through the Foret d’Andaine to Bagnoles de l’Orne, where the cyclists paused for lunch.
A route through Couterne, Madré, and Neuilly le Vendin finally brought the riders to Couptrain where cyclists celebrated at Le Famous Knight pub.  The ages of riders ranged from 73 to 10 and all riders completed the course.

“We are very pleased. The weather was bad and people have less money this year, yet we still made nearly the same as last year,” said Peter Dolan, president of the “Friends of the Famous” association, which organised the event. Final contributions are still coming in but over 1,500 euros was pledged on the day and a further 500 euros came from an auction in the evening for items and services from local businesses.
